Chris Vleugels joined the SMIT team in October 2006 as a junior researcher. Currently he is working on interdisciplinary projects regarding new and emerging technologies and applications within the cultural field (CUPID and MuTable). He is also involved in the European research project DIGITAS on media education and lifelong learning. Between 2006-2007 he was involved in the TIRO project. Within this project he conducted a qualitative field research on the use of ICT by teenagers.

Chris Vleugels holds a Master Degree in Sociology (KULeuven) specializing in Theoretical Sociology and Sociology of Culture and Education. His main research interests are in qualitative research, e-culture, culture in a network(ed) society, media literacy, sociology of youth and processes of socialization.
