Eva Van Passel joined IBBT-SMIT at the Free University of Brussels (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) in November 2007. Previously she worked for the Belgian Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers (SABAM).

With a background in Media and Communication Studies, Film Studies and Visual Culture, her research interests include different aspects of culture in a networked society, with a specific interest in (audio)visual culture. Her research efforts are currently mainly centred on digitisation and digital distribution of cultural content.
